The Gilded Age has inspired main fashion trends in huge ways for many seasons so far. The Gilded Age influenced the last three decades of the nineteenth century (roughly 1870-1900). The Corset was a standard garment. This over the top, style of dressing also made an appearance at the 2022 Met Gala, where invited celebrities were given the “Gilded Glamour” dress code. Gilded Age fashion normally meant layers of clothing, with men wearing different versions of suits and women wearing floor length gowns accompanied by restrictive corsets to help achieving desired shapes. However, the more often someone was able to change their garments during the day, the more wealthy they were.
